Boutikey Launch Fashion Show!

 

 

Velvet maxi dress for summer!  One of the fabulous looks Helena's showed at the Boutikey Launch event at the Emerald Lounge in Boston on Thursday night!  Over 30 local boutiques attended!

Last week, there was a devastating fire at a multi-family home on Marlboro Street in Belmont. Thankfully, no one was injured. But, three families lost all their homes and all of their belongings. Tomorrow, the Belmont Corner Neighborhood Association is holding a HUGE yard sale to benefit these families. Helena's donated two big boxes of apparel to this event, and so did our lovely neighbors at Zia Clothing Outlet. Please attend! All proceeds go directly to the families!

New Prairie is here, and it is soooo good.  New Mid Victorian Hoodies, new Short Cloak, new dresses and so much more!  We love the new colors!

Day 3 of the May NY Shows!

Day three started at Red Engine!  We previewed the fall collection which is all about two styles: the Vamp and the Scorcher.  The Vamp is a hi-rise ankle zip that we have in for spring.  This style has sold like wildfire across the county, and Red Engine is continuing with it into fall in new washes.  The Scorcher is Red Engine's classic skinny jean that they are producing in lots of fabrics for all including sateen, cord, coated denim and colored denim.

My favorite novelty from Red Engine is this subtle print of indigo blue on denim.  Imagine this pair with with a chunky knit charcoal sweater and a pair of boots.  Sorry to take you out of your lovely spring day...but we are buying fall and winter 2014 here.  

In addition to seeing Tulle, Heather Grey, and getting the scoop on new denim lines, we saw our favorite shirting line, Bella Dahl!  As you can tell from the racks, fall will continue to be about denim shirts!  Our customer favorite from Bella Dahl has been the split neck tunic.  We found great new variations on this style for fall, as well as a perfect button-up white shirt.

What are our favorite trends for next fall & winter?  Super-soft knit sweaters, a combination of black and pastels, and mid-rise denim in black and slate grey.  However, we are back from the shows, and happily indulging in all the spring fashions that are in-store now!

Summer Nail Trend: Lemon Yellow!

At the NY shows this week, the nail trend is Yellow! Some brights, some soft pastel, some buttery.  But the theme is yellow!  All our stylish sales reps are all sporting sunshine of their fingertips and it looks good!

Yellow nails have a rich history. Madonna was workin' this trend in all her '80s Material Girl glory.  It looked fresh then, mixed with black netting and stacks of plastic bracelets.

Our own Helena's staffer, Kristin, debuted this shade (above) recently on her stilleto nails.  It looks smashing combined with navy, turquoise, or hot pink!

Days 1 & 2 of the May NY Shows!

For Helena's the New York shows always start off with a trip to Chelsea to the Designers & Agents show.  The show for emerging, green and independent designers, this show is small, carefully curated, and brimming with creative designs.  We viewed Prairie Underground for Holiday '14, and soaked in all the brilliant energy.

Then, Day 2, we jump into the big-mama of a show, Intermezzo.  This show is packed with the bigger labels including denim, daywear, and lots of accessories! There is a lot of floor to cover, so we called-up our best caffeinated selves, and got started.

Ella Moss showed us intricately detailed holiday wear in cream, burgundy and black.  Lots of beading and mixes of chiffon & knits in sweaters.  

We ordered customer favorite line, Nally & Millie for fall. Our lovely rep, Lilian, who is expecting her second baby next month, pulled out soft cozy sweaters, beautiful print dresses, and print skirts.

Ada Collection is debuting new textures, colors and themes for their belt collection.  We love the studded wrap belts, and the new embossed leathers.  The best find?  This (pictured) perfect jean friendly belt!  We have been on the search for a long time.

And then....there is Joe's Jeans.  Joe's always has a huge selection of new washes and cuts.  The booth was brimming with the best new trends, and new takes on their classic core line of skinny jeans, straight-leg and boot cut.  A great day of buying for the stores and taking in all the new style trends for the coming months!
