Fall Fashion Trends

Helena's is thrilled with the arrival of fall fashions. And what a bounty it is!! This fall is all about color...and as you know, we have a passion for color at the store. The best colors trends: dark purple, shades of green and yellow, cranberry red, and blues in teal to cobalt. To kick off the season, we are calling out a few of falls best pieces -- the must-haves for the upcoming months:

The Jacket: Three words: fitted, casual, chic. And by jacket I mean the lighter, shorted version of the coat. See little corduroy versions from Tulle in pumpkin, and from Lole in chocolate. And see, pictured on the left, the fantastic Tulle trench in one of the best yellows out there.

The Ruched Dress: The subtle detail of a little ruching can make a dress, "the" dress for the season. In all cases, it flatters the figure. Our favorites are the brilliantly colored dress from Weston Wear pictured above, a long-sleeve dress from Three Dot with a ruching up the center, and a fabulous dress from Effie's' Heart with ruching from top to bottom!

The Legging: Wear them with a bright tunic, or wear them under a great dress or skirt, but this fall, wear them!! Leggings are as comfortable as a pair of cozy yoga pants, yet offer a polished, put-together look. See the XCVI version with ruching at the ankle, or our favorite pair from Effie's Heart with a chic row of snaps. And Prairie Underground will bring us their sell-out denim-legging, and their equally popular tuxedo legging.

The Coat: The runways at New York's Fashion Week were spilling over with coats. A crisp, beautifully tailored coat is an anchor piece for your fall wardrobe. We have to-die-for coats in dreamy colors from Fillmore, Tulle, and Kensie. Tulle offers their classic "vintage" coat in a perfect collection of timeless colors. And the line Fillmore has outdone itself this fall with coats boasting perfectly designed collars and sleeves in lasting fabrics.

Tiny Teacups: New Orla Kiely at Helena's

Orla has done it again. Her new Fall 09 Etc Bags are smashing. Bold colors and refined patterns make this season's bags especially interesting. The simple stencil design of the Cutlery tote bag creates a dramatic statement in black and white. I am enamored of the the Tiny Teacups Classic Shoulder Bag in ink. The deep blue and white teacup print give this understated beauty a sweetness and versatility that I love. And for all you Orla fans out there, we still have some past season bags available at a good discount.

Fall Preview: Prairie Underground

Here is the lovely Jenn and I (Jessica) sporting two of our favorite new Fall pieces. Jenn is too cute for comfort in the mod check pattern coat from Tulle. It has a super shape and the teal,gold and green patterning makes this piece pop. I feel pretty sassy myself in this out of this world deep purple ruffle coat from Not The Same and the Lana dress from Effie's Heart. The J-41 Canopy shoes in brown with purple detail round out the outfit.

New Maternal America at Helena's

We thought that nothing could top Maternal America's collection for spring...but happily we were wrong. Last week, a bounty of early fall dresses and tops arrived, and they are delicious. This Dahlia dress is beautiful, with it's flattering shape and head-turning print. Perfect for a wedding or baby shower. Tops are an impressive part of this collection too.
